The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and attributes: At least 7 years’ experience in managing open-pit operations and a relevant NQF level 7 equivalent qualification. Must possess an in depth knowledge of mining infrastructure design, construction and operations.
Performance areas for the position: During construction the incumbent will be responsible to: Validate the mineral resource, mining designs and mining infrastructure requirements and designs. Assist with selection and procurement of the mining operations contractor. Manage the construction of mining infrastructure (haul roads, ROM pad, and waste and ore pre stripping, commissioning material). Commission and manage mining operations. During steady site operations the incumbent will be responsible for the management of the mining area in terms of Health and Safety, Compliance, Productivity, Cost Management, Personnel, Environment, and Best Practices.
