Our client is based in North West in the Brits District - They are current looking for an Infrastructure Architect to join their IT team.

  • JOB PURPOSE

The primary responsibility of the IT Architect is to design and implement complex computer systems and offer infrastructure services. The professional will address any issues related to ICT security and performance. Take charge of the software and hardware installations, specification, testing and service transition. The professional will have to identify the potential technology innovations and engage with businesses. The architect needs to guide in execution of Incident, Change, Release, Problem, Performance, and Availability Management.

 

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Matric / National Diploma / BSC Degree (Computing / Information Systems) / BTech (Computer Systems / Information Systems)

 

  • PREFERABLE REQUIREMENTS
    • Microsoft Certifications (MCITP / MCTS / MCSA / MCSE / MCP
    • VMWare Certifications (vSphere’s v5.x / 6.x / 7.x)
    • Networking Knowledge (CISCO technology)
    • The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
    • Enterprise Architecture Center of Excellence (EACOE)
    • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)

 

  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Detect and solve Cross Infrastructure/IT issues with new/creative solutions
    • Identify and initiate Infrastructure/IT activities with development teams, vendors and the customer
    • Design and facilitate the expansion and improvement of the applications and monitoring infrastructure in areas required, taking into consideration business requirements, processes, event correlation and integration of third-party applications
    • Directs multiple concurrent projects of varying sizes ensuring all are delivered on-time, on-budget
    • Act as an escalation point within company for Infrastructure & System related issues – working with the respective ITC Managers to assign ownership and provide resolution
    • Articulate overall Strategies for Service Improvement Management and Deployment within the Group, including Functional, Service Improvement and Account View
    • Provide the team with direction and vision, including motivating people to perform, listening to people, providing feedback, recognizing strengths and providing solutions to challenges
    • Regularly communicate project status, plans, issues and concerns, and constraints

  • Directs multiple concurrent projects of varying sizes ensuring all are delivered on-time, on-budget
  • Manage all escalations between Client and Vendor Management
  • Attend Account, Customer, Service and Global Service Improvement Manager meetings as required
  • Regularly communicate project status, plans, issues and concerns, and constraints
  • Identifying the organisation's needs
  • Breaking down large scale projects into manageable chunks
  • Working out which IT Products to use Based on Cost Benefit Analysis and Research
  • Agree plans with the client / Norplats Group
  • Producing documents that monitor progress and ensure the quality of the project
  • Advise Norplats Group on managing future IT needs
  • Provide Technical Leadership for developing and maintaining the Enterprise Information Architecture
  • Develop, maintain and update the Corporate Data / Information Model and Information Flows within systems
  • Work in collaboration with Project Data Modellers who are responsible for developing data models that support transaction processing (structured data) and/or Information Management and Delivery (semi-structured and unstructured)
  • Identify gaps in the Corporate Information/Data Model and address them actively in collaboration with the Business Support Teams
  • Ensure systems alignment with the Information Lifecycle
  • Maintain a library of the Enterprise Information Models (i.e., Information Models, Information Flows, Data Dictionaries, etc.) and develop/enforce the Change Control Process for the Enterprise Information Architecture artefacts
  • Create and maintain Information Modelling Approach, monitor and enforce compliance of Information Standards to minimize redundancies and enhance information quality
  • Coordinate information/data changes that occur as part of new development, maintenance and enhancements to ensure consistency with the Corporate Information/Data Model
  • Create processes for capturing and defining Information/Data, Standards, Modelling Meta Models and Documentation
  • Provide Information Administration Guidelines and Standards for Business Requirements Analysis and Enterprise Modelling
  • Coordinate IT Teams and DBAs to ensure creation of physical database and an optimal implementation of the Data Models/Database Design
  • Provide Strategic Planning and Implementation support for Information Management.
  • Mainstream the Enterprise Information Architecture Process Standards and Good Practices for Information-Centric Development Processes into the Systems Development Life Cycle
  • Serve as a central point of contact for Enterprise Information Architecture issues
  • Provide detailed Impact Analysis Assessment for Enterprise Information Architecture components
  • Collaborate with other IT Groups to institutionalize Information Management Policy, Standards and project related Architectural Deliverables
  • Develop and evangelize Enterprise Information Architecture and Transformation Plan
  • Communicate with Project Teams and other Stakeholders to keep them apprised of Enterprise Information Architecture status and relevant issues of interest to clients and their business areas
  • Align Enterprise Information Architecture efforts with other Enterprise Architecture/ Information Management counterparts to ensure overall alignment of Architecture components
  • Participate Enterprise-Level Information Technology Roadmap Planning and Information Technology Governance activities in general
  • Actively follow-up on audit recommendations related to Enterprise Information Architecture and provide roadmap for implementation
  • Consulting on full range of Microsoft’s Product Suite, involving Installation, Configuration and Maintenance
  • Product and Service Development
  • Quality Assurance on delivered products
  • Training / mentoring of all Junior Staff
  • Pipeline development on staying in-line with AD, Microsoft Exchange related technologies for possible migration scenarios
  • Defined solutions designed to reduced TCO for customers
  • Technical Proposals for Technical Components on Tenders and Proposals
  • Documentation on processes
  • Presentations on all forms of Technical Content for Management within areas of responsibility
  • Convert Customer Requirements into solutions
  • High-level Network Design and Implementation
  • Network Management and Monitoring, including applications like MRTG, Netflow…etc
  • Advanced understanding of all layers of the TCP/IP protocol stack
  • Being the final Tier of investigating and troubleshooting critical problems
  • Evaluation and Deployment of new technologies and solutions, based on Customer Requirements
  • Strong ability to identify and analyse a requirement and design/implement the best solution
  • Good working knowledge and support of connectivity types (fibre, wireless, Ethernet, Diginet, broadband, CHE1, PRI etc.)
  • Excellent understanding of Internet Related Technologies such as Mail, Web, DNS, P2P, Cloud, etc
  • Excellent hardware knowledge Layer 2, 3, 4, and layer 7 devices
  • Excellent networking skills – Cisco based (LAN, WAN, dial, network security, bandwidth management, NAT, access control lists, traffic policies, routing, etc.)
  • Working experience of QOS measures, including Queuing; Rate-Limiting; Traffic Policies; NBAR
  • Good working knowledge of Network Security (IPSEC, Authentication types, Encryption Types, Radius)
  • Excellent working knowledge of VPN Services – (MPLS, GRE, and IPSEC) and associated encryption types
  • Good working knowledge of Management and Authentication Systems, Cisco works and Radius & Tacacs
  • Excellent knowledge of Routing/Tunnelling Protocols and Switching Technologies, (OSPF, BGP, BGP-MPLS, VOIP, VTP, Spanning Tree, L2TP, PPTP, EIGRP)
  • High-level problem resolution
  • Ensure that services provided are of the highest possible standards
  • Evaluate (documenting when required) new equipment/technologies
  • Develop and maintain the Policies and Strategies for IP address allocation
  • Liaise with external Vendors, Suppliers and Customers on technical issues
  • Established and managed SLA's between the Company, external Vendors, Suppliers and Customers
  • Compile/generate Network, Systems and Service Orientated Statistics as required
