A large Commercial Farming Business requires an enthusiastic and progressive Manager to hands-on manage, oversee and co-ordinate their Seed Production section in Tanzania. Must have sound knowledge of irrigation, and Hybrid seed production (specifically maize, sunflower and beans).
New role, reporting to the Production Director.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- B Sc Agric - Agric qualification Essential
- 10 years’ (plus) extensive experience in seed production and row cropping
- Must be familiar with Hybrid seed crops & relevant crop protection
- Team player
- Good manager
- Able to live and work in a remote location with very wet April/May and warm winters
Technical Competencies & Experience:
- Variety selection, land preparation and planting, pruning… all agronomic practices required
- Management of 620ha irrigated (with a dependable water supply)
- Disease recognition and curative measures
- Reaping and processing
- Budgeting
- Management and development of labour force
- Strong MS Office knowledge: computer skills and record keeping
- Farming and Cropping management programs
