Technical Supervisor (Telecoms)

My client supplies state of the art telecoms infrastructure and ISP services to urban, suburban and rural South Africa. They are seeking to employ a Technical Supervisor in the Klerksdorp area to effectively execute tasks related to coordinating, implementing and support of network and service implementations

Key focus areas:
• Provide overall technical leadership for the Technicians and Assistant Technician direct
reports for BAU projects
• Provide overall responsibility for the co-ordination of the outputs of the Technicians and
Assistant Technicians during Project Delivery
• Provide overall management of the monitoring, reporting and control of the productivity of the Technicians and Assistant Technician direct reports

Job Description:

• Delivery and BAU project administration (define and develop project scoping, monitoring and control framework)
• Provide the overall Technical and Managerial leadership for direct reports
• Be the point of contact for large and BAU projects at customer interface (during escalation)
• Define, implement and manage the Time Management practices for the direct reports
• Provide on-site technical implementation services of the company network
• Provide on-site and remote network maintenance services for the company network
• Provide on-site survey services for the company network
• Ensure personal commitment to excellence to the company's existing practices/process
• Ensure input and participation into improving and developing the company’s existing and new practices/processes

• Understand customer (internal and external) requirements and develop and participate in the scoping and BoM of works for BAU and Project Delivery
• Improve, monitor and control the execution of Technicians preparation and on-site installations procedures
• Ensure self and direct reports adherence to functional process and practices for ordering stock
• Personal administration for jobs, time registers, logbooks and other work-related administration per existing and new company practices
• Adhere to internal escalation processes during incidents
• Identify and develop the required training needs of Self and direct reports


• Matric
• Diploma
• Computer literacy/COMPTIA
• Electrical circuits 101 AC/DC/Solar (or similar)
• NTCNA Mikrotic (or similar)
• Working at heights certified
• RF/Microwave Advanced
• Structured cabling
• Fiber optic reticulation
• Valid drivers license

• A minimum of 3 years in the WISP or Telco industry
• Advanced skills in Microsoft office, Smartsheet and/or MS Projects
• Design, implementation and maintenance of Microwave/Wi-Fi technology
• Design, implementation and maintenance of High sites Construction and Facilities
• Working at Heights
• Extensive experience of travel and remote work (National and Rural Areas)
• Functional and line administration and management
• Leadership in team context (local and remote teams)
• Team management (local and remote teams)
• Experience working in Project Management context
• Working with Executive or Senior Level peers

Understanding of microwave systems (Advanced)
Must be capable in setup of routers and AP’s(Wi-Fi-LAN)
Must be capable in setup of wireless links
Must be capable in setup of VOIP phones
Wide understanding of AC and DC electrical circuits
Cable reticulation
Fiber optic reticulation
HR management practices
Civils/concrete foundations
Health & Safety
