Senior Account Manager

One of Africa’s leading financial services organisations is seeking a Senior Account Manager.

Education:

  • minimum of 6 years’ experience in financial services with 3 - 5 years’ experience in sales in financial services, and or financial markets with a proven track record in complex solutions selling and Account Management for at least 3 years
  • Should have experience in partnering with an executive team and have a high level of written and oral communication skills, as well as a strong knowledge of processes.
  • Commerce Degree in Sales and Marketing or Financial Markets or Economics.
  • Financial Information Associate Certification; Registered Person's Exams through SAIFM (advantageous/preferred).

Job Description:

  • Provide strategic thinking and contributions to crafting of departmental business plan based on professional knowledge and experience, to ensure delivery of focus areas for the year in support of departmental strategy
  • Contribute to the divisional sales plan by providing details on prospects, current client interactions, list of opportunities, pipeline of new business, challenges and mitigation of challenges and all issues related to executing of annual plan
  • Craft and manage own individual sales plan in support of the divisional sales plan and review it on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Track own performance against the department sales plan in terms of measurable client account management key performance areas and on stretch targets to ensure meeting of targets
  • Provide input into the formalization of the divisional sales budget to incorporate own cost into the budget managed by the Sales manager to manage budget in accordance to department financial delivery targets
  • Apply cost effectiveness principles in planning and delivery to contribute to achievement of divisional financial targets; budget and individual stretch targets
  • Track performance on quarterly and monthly basis to measure existing set targets against performance revenue targets to meet business strategy objectives
  • Provide specialist input in market data industry knowledge and sales skills to contribute to the delivery of market data financial targets and client retention and sustainability
  • Promote and sell market data products to current client base in order to promote the SA market to encourage trading activities in the business and increase market data revenue
  • Ensure systems, products or projects delivered contributes to improve client/JSE service by providing input on budgets, resources required and process based on the understanding of costs, business objectives and relationship with external suppliers and stakeholders
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management
  • Manage own delivery against sales delivery plan and set timelines, identify obstacles and risks to delivery and take appropriate action where required
  • Ensure ongoing feedback from clients are recorded, acted on and escalated to the sales manager with proposed recommendation and mitigated actions to ensure it is closed off at the clients
  • Provide input into the on-boarding activities for clients to ensure that the process is completed effectively and professionally
  • Manage client account plans on the sales system in order to meet client targets and source market intelligence to identify client trends relevant to the market
  • Manage end to end process of client accounts, which includes the entire sales process (beginning with explaining the product and pricing, to forwarding to sales support team to ensure that on-boarding of clients are processed)
  • Ensure all client-related administration processes are completed and recorded on the systems or centrally to manage the client service update process and ongoing recording of client and market intelligence information in order to track sales activities on the sales system in support of the end to end sales process for sustainable growth
  • Identify and raise opportunities to improve existing procedures and processes and escalate to managers in order to ensure most efficient and effective usage of client information relevant to procedures and processes
  • Manage own delivery against agreed deliverables and set timelines, identify obstacles and risks in delivery and take appropriate action where required
  • Promote and sell all market data products to current client base to promote the SA market and encourage trading activities to increase market data revenue
  • Meet business and compliance expectations by keeping abreast of established market data best practice procedures in relation to all market data products and services
  • Consult with existing client base to source client market intelligence in support of changes to products, commercials policies and agreements
  • Identify challenges arising from clients' evolving businesses and changing products and propose solutions to these challenges

  • Skills
  • Should have experience in partnering with an executive team and have a high level of written and oral communication skills, as well as a strong knowledge of processes.
  • Proven ability to oversee several risk types, ideally including credit, market, operational, investment, regulatory and strategic risk and specifically liquidity, refinancing, concentration and counterparty risk.
  • Knowledge of regulatory environment and key regulatory regimes.
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to manage risk, compliance and control activities in a complex financial operation.
  • Considerable knowledge and experience of best practice risk management and governance frameworks, methodologies, and emerging practice, in relation to the South African financial services context.
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Proven track record of delivering strategic projects.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Ability to exercise oversight over governance, risk, compliance and control arrangements in a complex financial operation.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex information to identify the key issue/action and drive resolution.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of risk control arrangements.
  • Proven relationship with existing financial market regulators an advantage
  • Must be able to deal with complexity and ambiguity and understand the bigger picture.
  • Strong ability to understand and quantify risk.
  • Excellent communication skills and extensive experience developing and presenting complex information in clear and concise manner to Board and Executive team level presentations.
  • Ability to research and understand complex regulatory issues and laws, demonstrate the related risks brought to our organization, and collaboratively work to provide appropriate risk handling activities.
  • Ability to function in deadline intensive environment, managing multiple responsibilities while effectively focusing on priority issues.
