Development and Technical Support Manager

An international chemical manufacturer and leader in the agricultural industry is seeking an experienced Product Manager to develop and implement market research, new product development and technical support strategies within South Africa and the Africa Middle East (AME) regions and manage relevant projects according to company protocol.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. Degree in Entomology, Agriculture or related Biological Sciences
  • At least 8 years’ experience in insect-, pest- and biological control, and the application of related products are essential.
  • Must have a good understanding of the Insect and Biological Control markets within South Africa and AME region.
  • Excellent communication and technical presentations skills are required for this role.
  • Excellent technical report writing skills are essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Successfully planning and managing all trial types, ensuring quality and on-time delivery, in line with local and global product registration protocols.
  • Participating in and contributing to protocol management.
  • Managing all projects related to the product development of the assigned portfolio.
  • Developing and providing technical support to the marketing and sales teams according to company strategies, to ensure the establishment and maintenance of strong customer relationships.
  • Recognising and driving new market development opportunities, with the aim to establish new product development projects.
  • Arranging and performing demonstration and product development trial visits with internal and external stakeholders, especially for the assigned product registration purposes.
  • Providing technical assistance and training on the assigned product portfolio to customers when required.
  • Collecting and providing trial data for re-registration, label development and the extension of current products as required.
  • Identifying problems, opportunities and threats and managing complaints regarding product performance and service delivery.
  • Engaging with stakeholders and other key influencers within the insect-, pest- and biological control industries to position the organisation strategically.
  • Representing the company on relevant committees and industry groups to ensure the company’s presence with the industry in a national basis.
  • Compiling and managing the budget and relevant reports for the Product Development portfolio.
  • Keeping abreast of market, trade and competitor activities in order to adapt to changing environments.

Salary package is highly negotiable depending on experience
