Maintenance Artisan - 12 month contract

An established international manufacturer of specialised agrochemicals requires the above to maintain and improve plant and equipment, carry out fault finding and diagnosis of failed equipment, and identify practicable solutions at their manufacturing facility in Brits.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have an Electrical, Mechanical or Instrumentation core trade
  • Chemical industry experience is beneficial
  • In depth knowledge and experience working on PLC is advantageous
  • Must have an understanding of HSE and Technical Engineering Standards
  • Previous experience in fault finding and diagnosis techniques are required

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and initiating information system data updates, SAP, plant records, drawings etc.
  • Procuring stock and non-stock materials and equipment.
  • Sharing learnings, delivering training and validation in core trade.
  • Co-ordinating multi disciplines to deliver the whole task.
  • Delivering proactive maintenance support across all engineering disciplines to meet production demands, through fault finding and diagnosis of failure.
  • Delivering planned routine preventative maintenance (RPM) activities to improve plant availability through structured monitoring, asset care, equipment maintenance, etc.
  • Identifying plant equipment reliability issues, utilising route cause analysis techniques RCA, analysing SAP and production data in order to understand improvement options and implement solutions.
  • Undertaking activities in compliance with site, company and regulatory requirements, e.g. HSE policy and standards etc.
  • Carrying out an engineering risk assessment (ERA) for each task performed, ensuring that all those involved in the task understand ERA and that they work within the ERA limits.
  • Maintaining plant availability and standards by carrying out planned engineering work such as equipment servicing, structured monitoring and PM scheduling.
  • Managing all changes to plant, equipment and process via the Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Improving plant availability by identifying equipment reliability issues, determining and implementing appropriate improvement opportunities and reviewing the outcome.
  • Ensuring work flexibly to support production demands or to deliver shutdown requirements e.g. short notice, extended working days and hours as well as standby when required.

Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained
