Procurement/Export Specialist - Midrand, JHB


  • Supplier Management and all purchasing within the Logistics department on a regional level including the facilitation of all import/export transactions
  • Supplier management with respect to direct stock supply to the RSO
  • Review and improve on Supplier agreements in line with B-BBEEE parameters
  • Conduct commercial negotiations in terms of Supplier service level and price negotiations
  • Quarterly Supplier visits/audits
  • Weekly and monthly stock forecasting with Suppliers
  • Timeous placement of purchase orders
  • Tracking of ETAs
  • Work collaboratively with the warehouse operation in employing procurement practices such as MRP in order to ensure that stock is ordered in time and at the right quantity to support business objectives
  • Facilitation of all import and export stock transactions
  • Compliance with all tax and custom regulation and associated documentation
  • Daily, weekly and monthly reporting
  • Ensure the department operates within approved ISO procedures and work instructions
  • Procurement conducted in a manner that is SOX compliant


Must have requirements include:

  • Grade 12
  • Tertiary qualification – formal Purchasing, Business Administration and/or Supply Chain Management qualification
  • 3-4 years working experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management (including import/export) within a medium to large Company
  • Solid understanding of all import/export documentation and experience liaising with SARS and relevant SADC region countries
  • Experience in the drafting, negotiation of Supplier Agreements
  • Compliance and governance experience in the form of ISO and Sarbanes Oxley
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with Supplies and Customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook), experience working on an ERP system will be an advantage
  •  Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
