Lead Solutions Architect

R 1 Annually

The incumbent will be required to lead the conceptualisation and design of enterprise wide solution architecture and provide enterprise solution architecture guidance and services guided by the EA principles and policies.

• Understand and familiarise with the project’s business requirements
• Understand and familiarise with the proposed conceptual solution architecture
• Understand and familiarise with the solution architecture meta-model
• Understand and familiarise with the as-is architecture
• Ensuring integration of all architecture domains
• Lead the solution design to ensure proper domain architecture integration
• Lead in ensuring quality assurance for the solution
• Lead in the creation of the Architecture roadmap
• Define the transition architectures
• Translate business requirements into functional requirements and efficient an effective ICT solution.
• Design detailed technical solutions to meet project objectives; business requirements; business capabilities that adhere to best ICT practices (fit for purpose; adaptable; future proof; cost efficient; secure; maintainable and supportable).
• Design solutions in line with the organisation’s integration standard and thinking
• Combine architectural ‘as-is’ (baseline) and ‘to-be’ (target) models for various domains (business, data, application and technology) with roadmaps to create an overall solution architecture and roadmap with the supporting transition architectures.
• Advise and evaluate similar products available in the market to meet the business requirements.
• Ensure that the interdependencies of the systems are managed in the solution design process.
• Develop solution architectures based on frameworks and associated architecture development methods, including but not restricted to the following: TOGAF, Zachman and GWEA.
• Apply architecture methods & frameworks across domains – Business, Information, Data, Application & technology.
• Ensure alignment between the enterprise architecture, solution architecture, architecture principles, and information and communications technology standards to ensure standardisation and reduce risk.
• Develop TOR to assist business and ICT teams during RFI; RFP; project scoping; project budgeting and high-level conceptual design.
• Develop and evaluate requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposals (RFPs).
• Take accountability for the end-to-end delivery of the solutions for the business and ensure that solutions implemented match the architectural designs (quality control).
• Ensure that all individual solution architecture artefacts and changes are documented as per process standards and stored in the EA Library to facilitate compliance, organization and access
• Develop an integrated solution architecture roadmap and associated projects definition to guide and direct the implementation of the solution architect

Skills, Experience and Education


• Relevant Postgraduate Degree in Computer science or equivalent
• TOGAF certification is a requirement. Knowledge of other frameworks (e.g. Zachman) will be an advantage.
• Sound PC skills including Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
• Experience in Enterprise Architecture tools like Casewise, Visio, Sparx Enterprise Architect.
• At least ten (10) to fifteen (15) years’ experience in managing and leading (more than one architecture domain in a single project) large architectural projects 
• At least ten (10) to fifteen (15) years’ experience in providing leadership role in defining the enterprise/strategic architecture and vision for enterprises, such as Platform Roadmap, Service Roadmap, and Product selection approval for our Client Systems assets
• Solid knowledge in creating architecture for all domains in one or more of the following areas: Database architecture, Big Data, Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, Data Governance, No-SQL databases, Advanced Analytics, AI, Data Mining, ETL
• Solid knowledge in system requirements and system architecture to meet business needs, including server infrastructure, capacity planning, storage requirements, cloud, virtualisation and networking protocols
• Ability to recognise functional interdependencies, to assimilate and correlate disconnected procedures and process, and articulate their collective relevance to the organisation.
