Senior Finance Manager

A leading Chemical Manufacturing company has a position for a Senior Finance Manager, available.

Main Objective:

  • Manage compliance, governance, and the control environment.
  • Provide strategic assistance to the executive team.
  • Perform analytical reviews, to inform business decisions.
  • Provide technical skills to the finance teams.
  • Automation of finance functions and streamlining business processes.
  • Establish and maintain a strong Internal Financial Control environment, within the production and head office environments.
  • Maintain sound corporate governance within the organisation, to comply with statutory and regulatory, as well as company policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compliance – Risk, Internal Audit, VAT, Taxation (All)
  • Costing and Inventory Management
  • Insurance
  • Technical support:

- IFRS (Implementation of all new standards applicable).

- Taxation – Responsible for SA and non-SA (Ensure correct stakeholders in the different countries).

  • Budgets, including reports and papers.
  • Assistance with presentations (QBR etc.).
  • Year end.
  • External audit process.
  • Staff supervision.
  • Support to FD:

- Automation of manual processes.

- Innovation e.g., investigation of RPA technology, tax tool, consolidation tool.

- Strategy implementation.

- Analysis of information.

- Knowledge transfer.

- Support EXCO requirements.

  • Review relevant countries balance sheet reconciliations, and engage with finance teams to understand reconciliations items and resolve any variances in a timely manner.
  • Manage foreign currency exposure in all countries and provide guidance to countries.
  • Manage financial year ends, and liaise with all countries' auditors, to ensure process is complete per deadlines set, and all audit matters are resolved.
  • Review annual audit packs.
  • Conduct ad-hoc country visits and assess internal controls procedures, as well as advise on changes to be implemented.
  • Maintain sound corporate governance within the organisation, ensure justifiable decision making reflects corporate values, as well as ensure transparency.
  • Ensure financial discipline-provide budgetary resources & monitor budget management.
  • Ensure adequate explanations for all over/under expenditure.
  • Give input into business planning process.
  • Manage internal & external audit process.
  • Provide problem solving assistance.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal and statutory requirements, meet principles of sound corporate governance and internationally accepted standards.
  • Manage all financial aspects relating to any compliance aspects of the business, to ensure validity, accuracy, and completeness of information.
  • Enforce sound corporate governance within the organisation, to comply with statutory laws and regulations as well as company policies.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and frameworks: JSE listing requirements, IFRS, VAT Act, Income Tax Act, Companies Act, King 3, Consumer Protection Act, National Credit Act, South African Reserve Bank requirements.

Requirements:

  • Minimum - CA (SA)
  • MBA Advantageous
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation - Advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in relevant field, with 3 years relevant manufacturing experience.

  • Good understanding of the principals of contract knowledge.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial principals and processes.
