A large Engineering and Manufacturing Company situated in Vanderbijlpark is seeking to appoint a Fabrication & Machining Planner

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12, or Technical Qualification N3
  • Artisan Trade (Boilermaker) will be advantageous

Experience / Requirements:

  • 5 - 7 years working experience in an engineering environment. Experience in the Heavy Engineering field, will be advantageous.
  • Fully competent in ready and interpreting drawings
  • Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles
  • Computer literate
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills (Good at math and statistics)
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Attention to detail

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate production workflow for one or multiple products
  • Plan and prioritize operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay
  • Determine manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand
  • Assign workers and other staff to particular production operations
  • Schedule shift according to production needs
  • Monitor jobs to ensure they will finish on time and within budget
  • Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption
  • Obtain output information (number of finished projects, percentage of defectives etc.)
  • Prepare and submit status and performance reports
  • Keep paperwork organized
  • Collaborate with quality control, and other staff
  • Ensuring plans meet the client’s specifications
  • Making estimations for timescales and costs
  • Supervising the project at all stages and providing solutions to problems
  • Collaborating with site managers, inspectors, engineers, and other professionals
  • Organising the transportation of materials
  • Ensuring procedures are carried out safely
