Shift Supervisor

Engineering & Technical, Gauteng JHB - Western Suburbs

R R130 per hour

Shift Supervisor_Plastics Extrusion Manufacturing Plant (Randburg)_Permanent position with our global client responsible for managing a production shift team (production activities, all personnel and maintenance) ensuring efficient operation and continuous improvement.


Minimum qualification / experience

  • Qualified artisan (Electrician, Fitter or Millwright)
  • Minimum N3 qualification.
  • 5 – 10 years’ work experience
  • Plastic pipe extrusion background
  • Certification in Supervisor/Training

  • To supervise and manage a production shift consisting of about 10 shift staff.
  • To build team spirit within your production shift.
  • To mentor the shift leader and impart your knowledge and experience to him.
  • To ensure effective start-up of production machinery.
  • To make running adjustments to production machinery.
  • To undertake running repairs on machinery.
  • To perform tool / product changes.
  • To perform ongoing maintenance tasks.
  • To attend to all breakdowns, minimising downtime.
  • To ensure that scrap production is minimized, as per prescribed metric & effectively reprocessed (Material Management)
  • To ensure that production efficiencies are maximized, inclusive of improving plant OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) as per prescribed metric.
  • To ensure safety and cleanliness of the entire work place.
  • To carry out laboratory tests and take necessary corrective action.
  • To log machine parameters.
  • To ensure compliance with our ISO9001 quality system, maintain Quality standards and procedures.
  • To perform project tasks as directed.
  • Carry out any other tasks requested by management.
  • Ensuring compliance with OHSACT.
  • To maintain and control tools and equipment.
  • Be fair & firm ensuring compliance with factory rules and carrying out disciplinary action where necessary.
  • To work overtime / weekends when required.
  • Conduct Best Practice Training Sessions
