IR Officer_Extensive Labour Relations and CCMA experience for staffing solutions company based in the West Rand required for well established group and able to travel to various provinces.


  • Relevant qualification in HR/IR and/or Law
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in IR and CCMA matters
  • Experience in CCMA and/or Bargaining Council matters with a proven track record
  • In depth knowledge of the Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment (BCEA), Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), Bargaining Councils and relevant Case Law
  • Assertive, pro-active and the ability to function in a stressful environment while being able to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing ability
  • Valid drivers license with own reliable transport (Ability to travel (Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West as required)



  • Strategize, advise, provide guidance, facilitate and responsible for matters relating to misconduct, poor work performance, incapacity, retrenchments, grievances, strikes, CCMA and bargaining council matters including unfair dismissal, unfair labour practise, organizational rights, Section 198, unilateral change to terms and conditions and related disputes
  • Ensure compliance in respect of matters related to IR and/or labour including the following Legislation; LRA, BCEA, EE, SDA, OHSA and the Employment Services Act
  • Provide training to managers and employees on all IR and /or labour related matters including chairing and representing in disciplinary enquiries, dealing with the absconding procedure as well as drafting charges, etc.
  • Ensure that all IR related Company Policies and Procedures are up to date and compliant with current legislation and case law
  • Ensure that internal IR and/or labour related matters, including disciplinary enquiries poor work performance, incapacity, retrenchments, grievances, strikes, CCMA and Bargaining Council matters are recorded and kept
  • Monitor all internal labour relations trends and submit relevant reports to business
  • Responsible for attending to conciliations, arbitrations and all other matters at the CCMA and Bargaining Councils including drafting of required applications, affidavits, notices and correspondence and any other documentation
  • Advise, consult and facilitate on IR structures and procedures for the day-to-day practical aspects of an IR function
  • Chairing, representing, facilitating and drafting of documents relating to disciplinary enquiries, poor work performance, incapacity, retrenchments, grievances and strikes
  • Facilitate the implementation of regular meetings between management and organised labour (Unions, Workers Forum and Workers Representatives)
  • Responsible for setting up and monitoring the workplace forums
  • Facilitate and maintain a good working relationship with unions and union officials
  • Consult and advise management and employees with regards to current legislation and developing policies and procedures
  • Drafting opinions regarding IR and/or labour related matters to management
  • Handing over of all relevant information and documentation in respect of all Labour Court matters, including reviews to Attorney’s appointed to deal with such matters
