Financial Manager

A Large Engineering Company Based in Germiston is seeking to appoint a Financial Manager to join the team

  • This position is responsible for corporate accounting and internal reporting for our clients  Thermal and subsidiaries/investment in associates.

  •  Management
  •  Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  •  Oversee the operations of the company’s treasury, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
  •  Manage Finance Department staff members.

    Funds Management

  • Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment
  • Ensure that enough funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
  • Maintain banking relationships
  • Recommend appropriate dividend issuances, based on historical dividend patterns and expected cash flows
  • Budgeting

  • Prepare the company's budget and business plans
  • Report to the Financial Director on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances
  • Financial Analysis

  • Engage in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the company
  • Engage in benchmarking studies to establish areas of potential operational improvement
  • Interpret the company's financial results to management and recommend improvement activities
  • Review company bottlenecks and recommend changes to improve the overall level of company throughout
  • Compile key business metrics and report on them to management
  • Manage the capital budgeting process, based on constraint analysis and discounted cash flow analysis
  • Create additional analyses and reports as requested by management
  • Review monthly intercompany data before reporting to Head Office.
  • Review and analyse monthly financial data before reporting to Head office.
  • Attend all monthly project review meetings.
  • Attend monthly telephone calls with Financial Director and Head Office representatives.
  • Prepare debtors’ age analysis, allocation of debtors’ payment, collection of debts and compliance with the debtors
  • Ensure monthly and yearly deadlines are met and comply with applicable accounting standards
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations (Bank reconciliation, general ledger’s recon and creditor’s recon).
  • Build relationships with clients through effective communication and stakeholder management
  • Prepare Annual Financial Statement via Caseware
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and relevant statutory and group requirements
  • Ensure that reports are accurate, complete and reflect financial performance and position of the unit accurately
  • Prepare monthly tax computations
  • Prepare VAT. EMP201, IT14, Dividend tax, Provisional Tax and ensure compliance with SARS. Handle SARS audits
  • Coordinate external and internal audits.
  • Engage with External Auditors to resolve reporting queries.
  • BBB-EE:

  • Prepare and analyse monthly BBB-EE report for management.
  • Liaise with other Departments to ensure that BBB-EE data is accurate and reasonable.
  • Assist Financial Director with preparing and executing BBB-EE.
  • Additional Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the extension of credit to customers.
  • Approve payments to suppliers and salaries.
  • Assist Management Accountant with monthly reporting to Head Office.
  • Administration of the company Trusts.
  • Approve payments via FNB online.
  • Assist Financial Director with Compliance functions

  • University Honours Degree/B-Tech in Accounting/Financial Management.
  • Preferably CA(SA)/CIMA qualification

  • Have a minimum of three years’ experience as Finance Manager.
  • Require construction / engineering background.
