HR Manager

Human Resources, Gauteng Randburg

R 450 000 - R 500 000 Annually

Blue-chip multi-national retail concern has an opportunity at Head Office for an HR Manager. This is a full HR Generalist role, suitable candidate must have mall retail experience.

Duties and responsibilities include the following:


  • Managing the full recruitment process
  • Design Job Profiles as required
  • Analysing psychometric assessments in regards to suitability for the position and the company fit.
  • Create & Maintain a succession plan for critical roles

New Starters

  • Ensure that all documents have been received (policies, etc.) before submitting to Payroll.
  • Ensure that all new moves, new starters and terminations are implemented on payroll.
  • Manage leave balances
  • Capture new employee on the biometrics system (Uniclox) ensuring that employee is linked to correct hours, rosters, etc.

Policy and Legislation

  • Ensure all policies and procedures are up to date and legally compliant.
  • Design and implement relevant policies  and mechanics for implementation e.g. probation
  • Submission of WSP to WRSETA
  • Submission of Equity Plan to Department of Labour

Employee Relations

  • Deal with any performance or grievance issues in a legally compliant and professional way
  • Involvement in all redundancy/retrenchment consultations. Create required documentation. Ensure correct process is followed.
  • Compiling of bundle of evidence for disciplinary hearings and CCMA representation.
  • Update ER Tracker

Employee Wellbeing

  • Create initiatives to impact the company culture positively (Heritage Day, Year End, etc.)

Learning and Development

  • Ensure that probation process is adhered to
  • Conduct training needs analysis and designs and implement a training plan with the Training Team
  • Manage all SETA requirements (WSP) to ensure Mandatory and Discretion grants are paid
  • Create development plans for all identified succession with Line Manager (Retail Succession Plan)
  • Book training (Functional, foundational and Compliance)

 HR Reporting

  • Provide information and reports on data such as staff turnover, training hours per person, etc.
  • Submitting monthly employee report to HR Business Partner – Dubai
  • Provide day to day advice to line managers
  • Exporting monthly reports on Uniclox and submitting to payroll. Work with payroll to address any discrepancies e.g. late coming


  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • 10 or more years’ experience in an HR function with the last 5 years in a leadership role.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the mall retail environment.
  • Sound practical knowledge of South African employment law and practices, including Employment Equity, Skills Development and BEE compliance and reporting.
  • Proficiency with HR software, MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint and other pc tools
